Human resources professional Chandra “Chandi” Krohl holds a bachelor’s in English literature from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s in business administration from the George Washington University. In addition to more than a decade of executive experience, Chandi Krohl is also affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
SHRM is the leading authority on developments within the human resources industry. The organization acknowledges that team interviews play an important role in the talent recruiting and onboarding process. However, SHRM recommends all managers train employees tasked with interview responsibilities.
At a minimum, untrained interviewers may lack confidence and have trouble identifying what their managers expect of them. In the worst-case scenario, they may inadvertently ask illegal questions that can open the company to legal action.
SHRM advises all companies to provide employees with in-person training that covers how to ask insightful questions and analyze answers. Interviewers should also be taught the specific types of questions to ask to reduce bias and avoid legal liabilities.
